This video is of a couple on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, who are dancing to a song called Breathing by Alisa Turner. I picked this video because I am a fan of Alisa Turner. I saw her live a few years ago, and she is amazing. After her set she really interacted with the audience and I was lucky enough to actually talk to her and get to know her a little more personally than just through music and her lyrics. Unfortunately she is battling Lyme's Disease and hasn't been able to do much recording and touring. Anyways, I looked this song up on YouTube and saw this video.
*The actual performance only takes about 2 minutes of the video, and starts at 1:28 and ends at 3:23.*
Elements/Description of Elements:
- Use of space: dominating, he is a crutch for her
- Rhythm: beautiful, structured, flowing
- Arm Movement: dominating, chaotic but beautifully structured
- Body Language: tells a story, sad, dramatic, passionate
- It over all has serious mood
In this video, Charlene and Jeff tell a story with their bodies and movement. He is a crutch for her through out the performance. They dominate the stage with their beautiful swift, flowing, movement. There is a bit of chaos when it comes to their arm movements, but it is still beautifully structured. They are passionate and dramatic, and the story and music express a sadness and seriousness to the performance.
